Mars students selected for PMEA All-State festival
Six Mars Area High School students were selected by solo audition for the 2021 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association All-State Festival, to be held virtually through Saturday.
Senior Meredith Gaura (soprano II), senior Aria Ramanathan (soprano II), and junior Katherine Ball (soprano II) will perform with the PMEA All-State Chorus, conducted by Rachel Cornacchio, Messiah University director of music education.
Senior Carly King (oboe II) and junior Evan Rojas (string bass) will perform with the All-State Orchestra, under the direction of Steven Amundson, St. Olaf College Orchestra conductor.
Sophomore Andrew Nelson (bassoon I) will perform with the All-State Band, conducted by Lt. Col. Daniel F. Toven, the U.S. Army Band “Pershing’s Own” deputy commander.
At the conclusion of the event, the members of each all-state ensemble will record their final performances, which will be available for streaming in late April.
