Anna Lanterman
Anna Lanterman, 98, of Waldorf, Md., formerly of Chicora, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County, passed away following a long illness on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at the Charleston Senior Facility in Waldorf, Md.
Anna was born March 1, 1923, in Kaylor, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Ruth Barnhart Wiles.
Anna attended school in Kaylor.
Anna was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Lanterman, whom she married on Sept. 6, 1941, at St. Paul’s Church.
She was employed by Penn Champ in East Butler for many years, and retired in 1984.
She was a life member of St. Paul’s Community Church near Chicora.
Anna’s greatest love was her God in Heaven and her family on Earth. She was a longtime member of the Sugarcreek Grange, the Bradys Bend American Legion Auxiliary and the Bradys Bend Senior Center. She was an avid Pirates and Steelers fan, and was well-known for her delicious cooking and her wonderful pies.
Anna took great pleasure in cleaning her home, enjoyed playing cards and, most especially, the company of her family and friends.
Anna is survived by three daughters, Lola Preston and her husband, Dan, of Kane, Darlene Cranmer of Renfrew, and Amy Lea Miller and her husband, Gary, of Waldorf, Md.; a son-in-law, John Posey of Butler; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, Anna was preceded in death by her daughter, Marlene Posey; a brother, Chester Wiles; a sister, Alameda Kamerer; and two sons-in law, Garrell Grelling and Charles Cranmer.
LANTERMAN — Friends of Anna Lanterman, who died Wednesday, March 10, 2021, will be received from noon until 3 p.m. Sunday at Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora.
Members of the auxiliary of the Bradys Bend American Legion will conduct a memorial service at 2:45 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Rev. Samuel Swick, a United Church of Christ pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Sugarcreek Township, Armstrong County.
