Shirley Fobes

Shirley Mae Fobes (Sutton) passed away peacefully in her sleep to join her husband, John, Saturday, March 6, 2021, at home.

Shirley was born on July 17, 1939, in West Sunbury and was the daughter of John and Mary Boozel Sutton.

Shirley married John Fobes and together they had four children.

After her husband’s passing, Shirley went back to school and got her GED. She continued her education into nursing school and became an LPN.

Shirley’s most important thing in her life was her family. She loved watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She was lovingly referred to as Gramcracker by her grandchildren. She and her dog Ginger shared a beautiful bond. Ginger provided Shirley with constant companionship and many laughs as well. Shirley never missed a shopping trip, either.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her children, John Fobes, Marie DeRoss, Mark Fobes and Jeff Fobes; her grandchildren, Denny and his wife, Sarah, Dan and his wife, Alysia, Dee, Anna and her husband, Adam and Breanna; her great- grandchildren, Mara, Melina, Dylan, Xander, Jace and Aiden; Shirley’s sisters, Helen Fleeger and her husband, Rodney, Rosemary Stalker and her husband, John, JoAnn Bell and her husband, Jim, and Jean Fobes. Her dog, Ginger, also survives.

Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, John.
