Robert Doran
Robert James Doran, 87, of Gibsonia, formerly of Valencia, was born Feb. 1, 1934, and passed away on Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, at UPMC Passavant Hospital.
He was the very dedicated husband of the late Dorrie Doran, who passed in July of 2017.
He grew up in Carrick, the son of the late Joseph and Marie Doran and the brother of the late Jane Westerbeck, Marie Fallon, Margie Bowers, Joseph and Ruth.
A graduate of Carrick High School, he was a standout basketball player, where he earned All-City honors. He then went on to play and graduate from Westminster College where he was honored as an All-American basketball player.
In the late 1970s, he started his own successful business, Automated Health Systems. AHS managed health care services for low-income families and communities. At the time of his retirement in 1997, AHS had up to 150 employees. After retirement, he and Dorrie enjoyed traveling. He was a past member of Wildwood Golf Club and Butler Country Club. At Butler, he served as president of the board of directors, cultivated many friendships and worked on his golf game. As the family grew, Bob enjoyed his role of “PapPap” the most. So much so that in 1997 he gifted the family a trip to Hawaii. This became the first of many “Doran Family” vacations.
Bob was a man who had an abundance of love for his family and friends. With a kind and giving heart as well as his trademark quick wit and humor there is no doubt these traits have been passed for to the future generation of Dorans. We will miss him terribly. He was our rock and our patriarch.
He was the beloved father of Eileen (Ed) Rawlings, Connie (Ron) Schoentag, Robert Jr. (Rosanne), Thomas (fiancé Annabel Middleton), and the late Kevin Doran.

Doran — Family of Robert James Doran, who died Friday, Feb. 26, 2021, will welcome friends from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Schellhaas Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Holy Sepulcher Catholic Church, 1304 E Cruikshank Road, Butler. Those in attendance should be prepared to follow all COVID-19 health guidelines, including the wearing of a face mask.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in Bob’s name to Holy Sepulcher Catholic Church, 1304 E Cruikshank Road, Butler, PA 16002.
