Bednar extends scoreless streak
BRADENTON, Fla. — Mars graduate David Bednar, trying to earn a spot in the Pittsburgh Pirates bullpen, tossed a scoreless ninth inning Friday night and struck out two.
The Pirates (8-9-1) lost to the Baltimore Orioles, 11-9, in Grapefruit League play.
Bednar has tossed seven scoreless innings this spring, striking out 13.
Todd Frazier hit his third home run of spring training for the Pirates.
