Meri Rieseck
Meri Eleanor Turner Rieseck, 94, of Cabot, formerly of Pittsburgh, passed at Concordia Cabot on Sunday, Feb. 7, 2021.
Meri was born June 30, 1926, to William H. Turner and Alice Strasser Turner, and joined sister, Helen.
Meri, the first in her family, graduated from Perry High School and Duff’s Institute.
She then worked as an administrative assistant at WPIT, Arthur Murray, and Gulf Oil in Pittsburgh. Through Gulf Oil, Meri met her husband, Wilbert L. Rieseck, and they married Nov. 7, 1953.
After marriage, Meri became a mother of five children, and a homemaker in a household of eight that included her mother-in-law, Mamie Zoller.
Meri sang in the church choir for over 40 years, and taught many adult and children’s Bible classes. Her Christian faith influenced her kind heart, adventurous spirit and can-do attitude. Meri’s giving nature was demonstrated by her many community services.
She was a Master Gardener in the Butler Garden Club, Blue Ribbon Apple Pie baker in the Butler Farm Show, and an avid collector of everything giraffe.
Survivors include her children, Marla McQuiston (Tim), David Rieseck (Drew), Sandi White (Scott), Carol Briggs (Donald) and Joanne Shelly (Michael); and her grandchildren, Mallory (Josh Levi), Hunter, Conor, Kelvin, Justin and Gavin; and her great-grandson, Virgil June Levi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; and her husband of 67 years, W.L. Rieseck.
