Barbara Salvati Frantz
Barbara Salvati Frantz of Connoquenessing Township died peacefully in her sleep on Feb. 8, 2021.
Born on Aug. 31, 1951, in Plainfield, N.J., she graduated from Cornell University with a B.S. in human ecology. She received an M.Ed. and an M.B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, and certification from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, as an elementary school principal.
She taught elementary grades in the Pittsburgh Public Schools, then stayed home for several years to raise her two children, David Timothy Keiser and Julia Lauren Keiser.
She became the executive director of Riverview Children's Center, then served as an elementary school principal for the Big Beaver Falls and the Butler Area School districts, until her cancer diagnosis forced her retirement in 2016.
An avid sailor and racer, she was a longtime member of the Moraine Sailing Club. She competed on her Sunfish sailboat well into her 60s, and also volunteered as a sailing instructor for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Eric Randall Frantz; her son, David Keiser (Jennifer), and her daughter, Julia Keiser (Carmel Majidi), both of Pittsburgh; her stepsons, Jason Frantz (Carolina) of Beaver Falls, Matthew Frantz of Pittsburgh, and Cameron Frantz of Murrysville; five grandchildren, Christine, Jason and Emmanuel Frantz, Genevieve Keiser and Adrian Majidi; five sisters, Maribeth Fasano (Patrick) of Oxford, Pa., Laura Lynn Coburn (Bruce) of Chatham, Mass., Carol Ann Spry (James) of Essex Fells, N.J., Robin Boinest (Patrick) of McLean, Va., and Gigi Papazian (Rob) of Wimauma, Fla.; two brothers, Douglas Salvati (Jennifer) of Greenville, S.C., and Roger Salvati (Krista) of Henderson, Nev.; and 15 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Eugene and Laura Salvati.
FRANTZ — A private viewing and funeral service for Barbara Salvati Frantz, who died Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, will be held at Boylan Funeral Home & Cremation Center of Connoquenessing Township, 856 Evans City Road, Renfrew, with the Rev. Ronald A.
