Jack Way Kison

Jack Way Kison, 89, of Butler, formerly of Natrona Heights, passed away on Feb. 8, 2021, at his son’s residence.

Jack was born Feb. 2, 1932, in Polk Township, Pa., and was the son of the late Clarence E. Kison and the late Ruth I. Berry Kison.

Jack was a graduate of Tarentum High School.

He worked at Allegheny Ludlum Steel Corp. for 43 years, retiring in 1993.

Jack was a member of First Christian Church of Tarentum, where he was a lifelong member, pianist, choir member, elder and treasurer.

He was an active member of the Alle-Kiski Barbershop Chorus, and was awarded “Member of the Year.”

Jack loved to play the piano and sing. He also was an avid golfer. But most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He is survived by one son, Pastor Frederick R. (Lorrie) Kison of Butler; one daughter, Amy (Joe) McElhaney of Apollo, Pa.; six grandchildren, Tyler, Evan, Noah, Luke, Joshua and Caleb Kison; two nieces; and one nephew.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma B. Bouchat Kison, whom he married on Oct. 1, 1955, and who passed away on Sept. 12, 2010; one brother, Fred Kison; and one sister, Patricia Wetzel.

KISON — Friends of Jack Way Kison, who died Monday, Feb. 8, 2021, will be received from 3 p.m. until the time of service at 7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, with his son, Pastor Fred R. Kison of the Intersection Community Church officiating.

Due to COVID-19 state guidelines, visitors are required to supply and wear their own facial mask and adhere to social distancing. Groups are limited to 25 people inside.

Burial will take place in Mount Airy Cemetery in Natrona Heights.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Frontline Ministries International, 104 Riviera Court, Renfrew, PA 16053.
