Edward McKernan III

Edward Vincent McKernan III, 74, of Butler, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, while under the care of Butler Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 11, 1946, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Edward Vincent McKernan Jr., and Margaret McGovern McKernan.

Ed proudly served our country in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1970. He was a union man and worked for Insulators Local 2. Ed loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle and enjoyed traveling on his Hog. He will be dearly missed by his family, as well as many friends and motorcycle enthusiasts.Ed leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Margaret McKernan Lacombe (William); his grandchildren, William, Edward and Luna Lacombe; his siblings, Kevin P. McKernan (Candace), Susan M. Lipecky, Dennis J. McKernan, Michael F. McKernan (Linda), Nora A. “Missy” Sutermaster (Carl) and Elizabeth Bertsch (Pat “Skip”); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Barbara McKernan; his brothers, Thomas R. and Kenneth J. McKernan; and his brother-in-law, Dennis Lipecky.McKERNAN III — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a private memorial service, followed by military honors for Edward Vincent McKernan III, who died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2021, will be held by the family.Ed will be laid to rest at Allegheny County Memorial Park.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 116 E.
