Alycia Gryn
Alycia Anne Gryn, 35 of Stewart, Fla., formerly of Slippery Rock, passed away in Stewart on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021. She was born in Franklin on Sept. 21, 1985.
She struggled with sobriety but found special support and encouragement through attending 12-step programs and from the friends she developed there. Her work as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation tech at Banyan Treatment Center, in Stewart, Fla., was very important to her. She loved all genres of music and was politically active and socially aware. Alycia loved animals.
Survivors include her mother, Mary Dee (Bill) Skalski of Ellwood City; father, Charles (Susan) Gryn of Volant; siblings, Matthew (Catherine Meyers) Gryn of North Huntingdon; Michele (Anthony Sapenzia) Gryn of Harmony, Patrick (Nicole) Gryn of Baden; and stepsisters, Catherine (Kalen) Drennen of Grove City; and Erin Sankey of New Castle.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Mary and Henry Gryn; and maternal grandmother, Dolores M. Vetal.
Gryn — The family of Alycia Anne Gryn, who died Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St. Slippery Rock. A private family time of remembrance will be shared at 8 p.m.
The family requests visitors attending to utilize masks and practice social distancing to better assure the safety of others.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Gateway Rehabilitation Center, 100 Moffett Run Road, Aliquippa, PA 15001 (Center Township) or ASPCA (animal shelter) aspca.org.
