Dorothy Walker
Dorothy “DeeDee” Henschel Walker, 68, of Cabot, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side, on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2021. She courageously fought a five-month battle with cancer.
Born on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1952 in Natrona Heights, her parents thought it was appropriate to name her after her mother. She was the daughter of the late Vincent J. and Dorothy G. (Hunter) Henschel.
DeeDee was a 1970 graduate of Highlands High School in Natrona Heights. She worked for Nova Dental Associates in Tarentum for 43 years as a dedicated and skilled dental assistant. Mrs. Walker was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Cabot, formerly a member of OLMBS of Natrona Heights. Her strong faith was evident as she attended weekly mass twice a week, and always showed kindness and thoughtfulness to family and friends.
DeeDee is survived by her husband, Jack Walker, whom she married Aug. 4, 1979; her son, Jared (Lindsay) Walker of Allegheny Township; two daughters, Kellie Walker of Saxonburg, and Bethany (Cory) Smith of Natrona Heights. Also surviving are four siblings, Thomas (Regina) Henschel, David (Sandra) Henschel, Janet (Barry) Ewing, Janee (Gary) Wislie and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Survivors also include a stepdaughter, Heather (Mark) Townsend; and three step grandchildren. DeeDee’s little canine companion “Yogi” gave her much comfort and was always by her side during her illness.
In addition to her parents, DeeDee was preceded in death by her brother, James P. Henschel.
Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
