Lois Saleone
Lois Roberta Fischer Saleone, 67, of Cranberry Township, lost her valiant battle with leukemia in the loving surroundings of her home on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021.
Born on Feb. 18, 1953, in Pittsburgh, Lois was the daughter of the late Robert Fischer and Agnes McGuire Fischer. Lois loved the Lord, adored her family and cherished her many friends.
She moved to Cranberry with her beloved husband, John, following their marriage in 1977. Soon, as a young mother to their only son, Christopher, Lois lived by the adage, “You get by giving” and gave of herself to everyone who crossed her path, quickly becoming part of the growing Cranberry community. Employed by the John Bonomo Insurance Agency in Zelienople, she was well known to her loyal customers for her kindness, wise counsel and professionalism.
As a longtime member of the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary, Lois served faithfully in every capacity, and particularly enjoyed planning and assisting with the annual Easter Egg Hunt gala. She also enjoyed supporting events at the local Cranberry Elks, where she and John were members for decades. She was a devout woman and was a member of the Grace Community Church, to which she contributed her time and wisdom to help others, including contributing to the “Feeding America Backpack Program” that helped area children. She also contributed her time to help others at the Light of Life Mission in Pittsburgh by assisting with meal distribution and encouraging fellowship.
With her ready smile and loving heart, Lois had a knack for attracting people and bringing them together. She made a multitude of friends through the years as she pursued her many interests and hobbies.
An enthusiastic golfer, she loved meeting her group of girlfriends every Tuesday for years at various courses in the area. In inclement weather, they would exchange their clubs for cards. Similarly, she was in the same bowling league for years, and looked forward to seeing her friends at Freeway Lanes each bowling session.
In its heyday, Lois was an enthusiastic country line dancer locally, and made and kept many friends from that era. She also enjoyed occasional get-togethers with numerous high school friends who still kept in touch. Always eager to travel, Lois enjoyed many trips with John and/or friends to Florida, Maryland, Myrtle Beach, Colorado and Las Vegas.
Lois was a selfless person who cared deeply about her friends and family, always celebrating their successes and remembering their heartbreaks. Her passing leaves a trail of sadness for family and friends who basked in her loving kindness and will miss her terribly.
She is survived by her loving husband, John J. Saleone Jr.; her devoted son, Christopher Saleone, and his wife, Bri; her sister, Regina Lewis; her brother, Melvin “Buddy” McGuire; her grandsons, Cameron and Kobe, who brought her immeasurable joy; her nieces, Vicki Hillier and Cassidy McGuire; her nephew, Randy Fischer; numerous cousins; and her dear friend, Elaine Gross.
Her family would like to thank the staff of AHN Hospice.
