F. William Cranmer

F. William Cranmer, 92, of Butler, passed away Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born April 27, 1928, in Butler, he was a son of the late Ralph W. and Agnes (Schehl) Cranmer.

He had retired from Spang and Co. from production control following 37 years of service. He then worked for St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church as the cemetery and maintenance manager for eight years.

He was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church in Herman.

William was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the R.C. Men’s Club, the Happy Hunters Sportsman Club, the East Butler Firemen’s Club, the Herman V.F.D., and the East Butler Bowling League.

He enjoyed golfing and was a member of several area golf leagues, including Herman Golf League and Friday Nights at Highland Golf Course for 57 years; he was one of the founding members. His passions were hunting, fishing and his meticulous green thumb, he took great pride in his garden and especially his tomatoes.

Surviving are his wife, Anna M. (Morrison) Cranmer, whom he married Oct. 2, 1947; children and grandchildren, Kenneth (Gail) Cranmer of Evans City, their children, Kevin, Dustin and Casey; David (Clara) Cranmer of Elizabethtown, their children, Erin and Ashlee; Sharon (John) Bopp of Butler, their children Nathan, Colleen and Leah; Susan (Ward) Quinlan of Butler, their children Maggi, Bryant, Derek and Kyle; and Ralph Cranmer, his children Benjamin and Nichole; 21 great-grandchildren; his sister, Ruth Cypher of Butler; his sister-in-law, Marlyn Cranmer of Butler and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald and Robert Cranmer; his sister-in law, Cora Lee Cranmer; and brother-in-law, Charles Cypher.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Grove Manor for their excellent care and compassion.

Cranmer — Visitation for F. William Cranmer, who died Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, is private.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday from St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 821 Herman Road, Butler.

Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Roman Catholic Church.
