The Butler Parks, Recreation, Grounds and Facilities Authority is planning fireworks displays July 4th and at least one other night this summer at Michelle Krill Field at Historic Pullman Park.

A local business is sponsoring the fireworks display that will start after a Butler BlueSox game on Independence Day. Butler Downtown is sponsoring a fireworks night after a June 2 game, said Cheri Readie, authority chairwoman.

At the authority meeting Monday, board members encouraged businesses to sponsor fireworks nights after games for the upcoming season, Readie said.

The authority also is trying to create a coed softball league to play in the fall and discussed hosting movie nights at the ballpark, she said.

Beginning in March, the authority will meet twice a month at 7 p.m. on the first and fourth Mondays at the stadium.
