KC man charged with 4th DUI
CHICORA — An arrest warrant has been issued for a Karns City man who has been charged with a felony fourth-offense DUI.
District Judge Lewis Stoughton signed the arrest warrant Friday for Michael T. Hillwig, 32, whom state police filed charges against Thursday.
Hillwig's charges include two felony counts related to a fourth DUI offense as well as five summary offenses stemming from a crash in late January.
According to charging documents, state police responded around 6 a.m. Jan. 26 for a one-vehicle accident at 2064 Kittanning Pike, Parker Township.
Police said they identified Hillwig as the driver of a red 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck that was damaged from striking a tree and a guardrail.
“Hillwig displayed signs of impairment and admitted to fentanyl and marijuana use,” said the investigating officer in the affidavit.
Police said they arrested Hillwig and took him to Butler Memorial Hospital for a chemical blood test, which later showed his blood contained fentanyl and marijuana.
According to the document, police ran a check on Hillwig's criminal history, which showed this would be his fourth DUI offense, and the checks also revealed Hillwig's license was DUI-suspended.
As of Friday afternoon, a preliminary hearing date had not been set.
