Henry G. Neuhaeusler

Henry G. Neuhaeusler, known to family and friends as “Hank,” passed away on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at Concordia in Cabot.

Born Jan. 5, 1926, in Pittsburgh, Henry was the son of the late Henry F. and Margaret (Rodgers) Neuhaeusler.

Henry was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Western Pacific. He enlisted in December of 1943, and was assigned to the Air Force 307th Bombardment Group called the Long Rangers. His specialty was flight maintenance and as a nose gunner on the B-24. He served as a staff sergeant. During his service, he earned six Bronze Stars and three Oak Leaf Clusters.

Henry was the chief mechanic with the Country Belle Dairy, working in the Pittsburgh and Mount Chestnut plants. He was a mechanic for Wick Implement on Route 68 in Butler. Then, he worked as a diesel mechanic for DuBrook Inc. Ready Mix Concrete in Butler, retiring in 1988.

Henry was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Sylvia (Murdocca) Neuhaeusler, who passed away in 2020; and his youngest daughter, Janet Neuhaeusler, who passed away in 2010.

He is survived by his children, Nancy Shumaker of Bethlehem, Pa., Kathy (John) Kriebel of Evans City, and Carl H. (Barbara) Neuhaeusler of Renfrew; his grandchildren, Kevin Kriebel of Butler, Scott (Brooke) Kriebel of Gibsonia, Tanner J. Neuhaeusler of New Brighton, and Lauren M. Neuhaeusler of Renfrew; and his great- grandchildren, Oscar and Elliott Kriebel of Gibsonia.

Henry had varied interests. He enjoyed working with his hands, he enjoyed woodworking, making boats, canoes and clock making. Henry also was an avid reader, enjoying history.

He will be remembered for his honesty. “Hank” was a man of few words, well respected and loved by many. His children remember fondly his devotion to his family. He helped care for his youngest daughter, Janet, who suffered from multiple sclerosis. Then he was caregiver for his wife, Sylvia, who was confined to a wheelchair.

His love and devotion inspired his children.
