Joseph J. Salopek
Joseph J. Salopek, born Dec. 11, 1946, in Butler, passed away at his home in Chico, Calif., on Dec. 29, 2020.
He was a disabled Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army, who received the Purple Heart for his injuries.He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, a son, Joseph, and a daughter, Kelsie, of Chico, Calif.; his eldest daughter to Cathy Holby (deceased), Kimberly Jo (Salopek) Gregg of Glen Burnie, Md.; and four grandchildren, Jonathon, Anthony, Isabella and Noah.He is also survived by his sister, Nancy Bowers of Butler; a sister, Mary Ann (Larry) McMillin of Slippery Rock; and a brother, Michael (Denise) Salopek, Waterloo, S.C.He was the son of the late Joseph J. Salopek and Mary Filetich Salopek.He was also preceded in death by his brother, Matthew J. Salopek (2019).SALOPEK — A private military funeral for Joseph J. Salopek, who died Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, Sacramento, Calif.A memorial fund has been established at the Butler County Humane Society in Joseph Salopek's memory.
