Supervisor applauds road efforts

ADAMS TWP — Adams Township Public Works is warming up to cold weather, according to township chairman Russell Ford Monday night.

Significant snowfall this year has required regular plowing and road assistance. Ford said public works director John Hock is rising to the occasion.

Though there may at times be some question as to who will be responding to a road call — either township police or public works — Ford said Hock ultimately makes the decision.

“We are allowing him to manage this process,” Ford said. “There's a lot of communication that's going on there.”

Sometimes a department response will be reviewed after the fact, according to Ford.

He said this helps to prepare for future calls and whether or not public works needs to respond. Specifically, Ford said the department is looking at the best times to go out and when to avoid heavy traffic.

Nevertheless, Ford said public works has made good calls this winter.

“I don't think John's missed a beat,” Ford said.

Ford also passed on a message from public works to Adams Township Chief of Police Shawn Anglum, regarding vehicles parked in no-parking snow removal zones in the Adams Ridge development.

Public works would like to see those areas especially watched, according to Ford.

“It's just very difficult for (public works) trucks to get around,” Ford said.

Anglum indicated that wouldn't be a problem.
