Sheriff's office purchases new K-9
The county sheriff’s office has received the donations needed to buy Justice, a 2-year-old German wirehaired pointer who will soon become the department’s new K-9.
The office had been seeking donations to help offset the $11,500 cost of buying, training and outfitting a new dog to replace Bullet, a 10-year-old dog of the same breed that is being retired.
“We will have enough money to purchase Justice,” Sheriff Mike Slupe said Monday. “I’m really happy about that.”
He said Justice is still being trained and is expected to join the office in March.
Sgt. Harry Callithen, who handles Bullet, will also handle Justice.
