Dorothy Acre

Dorothy (Berz) Dawson Acre, 90, formerly of Natrona Heights and Saxonburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, at Concordia at Villa St. Joseph in Baden.

She was born Nov. 26, 1930, in Springdale, and was a daughter of the late Otto J.E. and Elma Grace (Schuman) Berz.

Dorothy retired after 25 years of service from Allegheny Valley Hospital, where she worked as a unit clerk and medical records clerk.

She was a member of Janes United Methodist Church in Creighton.

Dorothy enjoyed reading, bus trips and, in her younger years, was an amateur painter.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Edward (Kathy Vantine) Dawson of Valencia, Roy (Luella) Dawson of Saxonburg, James (Margie) Dawson of Rimersburg, John (Michele) Dawson of Saxonburg, Elma (Thomas Sr.) Sutej of Clinton Township, and Martha Bowser (companion Bob Browne Sr.) of Butler; her stepsons, Gary Acre of Worthington, and Scott (Betty) Acre of Rockville, Md.; her grandchildren, Thomas Jr., Michael, Daniel and George Sutej, Ralph, Jonathan, Jessica and Marissa Dawson, Viola Kathy Bruno and Thomas Jr., and John J.C. Bowser; her stepgranddaughters, Valarie and Heather Acre; 23 great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-granddaughters; and her sister, Avis Mae Neubert of Cabot.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles R. Dawson; her second husband, Robert S. Acre; her brother, Roland Berz; and her sister, M. Ellen Gavrish.

ACRE — Due to the current health concerns and recommendations, all services and burial for Dorothy (Berz) Dawson Acre, who died Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, will be private.

Arrangements are under the care of Cicholski-Zidek Funeral Home, Natrona Heights.
