Betty Jo Long

Betty Jo Long, 89, of Harrisville passed away at 3:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Grove City.

She was born Oct. 31, 1931, in Pittsburgh to John Paul Barkley and Luella Jean Shannon Barkley.

She married Charles Duane Long on May 26, 1954.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of West Unity Community Church in Harrisville.

She enjoyed baking, cooking and travel, especially cruises when she was able to go.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Lynn (Leo) Edwards of Charleston, S.C., and Cindy Jean (John) Stemper of Plymouth, Minn.; three grandchildren, Mollie Spalding, Matthew Stemper and Kathryn Edwards; and one great-grandson, Sutton Spalding.

She was preceded in death by five brothers, Edwin “Bus” Barkley, Don, Dale “Bob,” Peter and Gene; and a sister, Katherine Kelly.

LONG — There will be no public services at this time for Betty Jo Long, who died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021.

A private interment for the immediate family only will be held at West Liberty Cemetery.

The family intends to hold a public memorial at a later time.

Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Slippery Rock.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Orchard Manor, 20 Orchard Drive, Grove City PA 16127, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
