Jacqueline Hughes

Jacqueline Hughes

It is with great sadness that I must announce that my mother, Jacqueline J. (Blackford) Hughes of Natrona Heights, has passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020.

Jackie was the daughter of the late Maurice and Effie Mae (Hendren) Blackford. She was born Feb. 16, 1934, in Greenfield, Ind.

Jackie met and married her husband, Donald P. Hughes, a soldier then at Fort Atterbury, after a whirlwind courtship of just three months. They were together until March of this year when he passed away, just short of their 69th wedding anniversary. Best friends for life, you never saw one of them without the other. I would say that she died of a broken heart. She passed away nine months to the day of Donald.

Jackie worked for Moonlight Mushrooms (BCMF) for 25 years, and retired from there in 1989.

She was the wonderful mother of two children, Donald E. Hughes and Joyce E. (Hughes) Schiebel of Harrison; the grandmother of Shannon, Alaina, Donna, Jacqueline, DJ, Caitlin and Erin; and the great-grandma to Hannah and Olivia, and Mimi to Alyssa and Dalton, and Gigi to Emma.

Jackie is survived by her daughter, Joyce and son-in-law, Alan F. Schiebel; her sister, Janice Kay (Les) Helms, a brother, Robert (Janice) Blackford, and youngest sister, Connie Jo, all of Indianapolis, Ind.

Loved ones who passed before her include her husband, Donald P., who passed away in 2020; her son, Donald E., who passed away in 2007; her granddaughter, Alaina D., who passed away in 2001; her brothers, George, Paul, Junior, Bradley and Norman Blackford; and her sisters, Barbara, Dorothy, Mary and Betty, all of Indiana.

Please remember Jackie, as she was, beautiful, kind and a friend to everyone she met. “I love you more.”

HUGHES — Due to the pandemic, services for Jacqueline J. (Blackford) Hughes, who died Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, are private for her immediate family. Jackie, Don and their granddaughter, Alaina, will be buried together.

Arrangements were handled by Fox Funeral Home, Saxonburg.
