Dennis A. Myers Jr.
Dennis A. Myers Jr., 93, of New Haven Court, Butler, a well-known former Chicora resident and retired school teacher went to be with the Lord Thursday morning, Dec. 31, 2020, at Butler Memorial Hospital.
Dennis was born June 24, 1927, in West Lebanon, Ind. He was the son of the late Dennis A. Sr. and Delsa J. Shankle Myers.
He was a 1945 graduate of Latrobe High School. Dennis graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education, and earned a master’s degree in science from Syracuse University.
Mr. Myers taught high school science for 24 years at Turkeyfoot School in Confluence, and had also taught at East Brady High School. Throughout his teaching career, Mr. Myers was highly respected among the district’s students, parents and staff.
Dennis was well-known throughout Butler County and the surrounding area for his skill as a piano technician tuner for more than 30 years. He was a member of the Piano Technician Guild, and was an avid bird watcher.
Dennis was an active member of the New Beginnings Free Methodist Church in Butler.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife, Betty L. Rainey Myers, whom he married July 3, 1965, at the Indiana Free Methodist Church.
Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews; cousins; a brother-in-law; and a number of close friends.
In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by a brother, John A. Myers.
MYERS — Friends of Dennis A. Myers Jr., who died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2020, will be received at from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Road, Chicora. COVID-19 protocols will be in place.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date and will be held at New Beginnings Free Methodist Church, 416 Center Ave., Butler. The Rev. Matthew Perkins, church pastor will officiate the service.
Interment will be in St. John’s Reformed Church Cemetery in Chicora.
