Robert Shaner
Robert J. Shaner, age 95, of Muddy Creek Township, peacefully passed away at his residence Saturday evening, Dec. 19, 2020, of natural causes.
Born Jan. 27, 1925, in Oil City, he was the son of the late Robert L. and Helen M. Say Shaner.
He was a proud World War II United States Navy Air Corps veteran, who served 1943 to 1946.He was a charter member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Portersville, where he and his wife were founding members. They also assisted in the establishment of the Portersville Christian School.He retired after working 34 years as a machinist. His first 29 years were at the former Etna Standard/Blawnox in Ellwood City, and then finishing his last five years of his career at Portersville Valve Company.Robert is survived by his children, Mark (Diane) Shaner of Ellwood City and Eileen Shaner of Portersville, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Harvey Dale Shaner and Leatha (Joseph) Stanavich, both of Florida.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Jean Wise Shaner, whom he married Sept. 8, 1951, and who passed away June 5, 2018; daughter, Brenda McCormick; and his grandson, Derrick Stevens.Shaner — Visitation for Robert J. Shaner, who died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, will be held at 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Raisley Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 387 Main St., Prospect.The funeral service will be 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with his pastor, Rev.
