Mattie Mae Burtner

Mattie Mae Burtner, 89, of Butler passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, at Concordia at the Orchard in Butler.

She was born March 23, 1931, in Butler, and was the only child of the late Thomas M. Courson and the late Mary (Gensbigler) Courson.

Mrs. Burtner was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she attended the Seeker’s Sunday School Class, the Ruth Women’s Circle and Trinity Fellowship Group.

She was a lifelong member of Butler County. Mrs. Burtner was a graduate of Butler High School Class of 1949.

She was a former member of the Butler Professional Women’s Club and the Christian Women’s Club. Mrs. Burtner was also a former member of Ladies Auxiliary of Lorraine Commandery and the Buttercup Garden Club.

Mrs. Burtner is survived by two daughters, Holly Burtner-Moore, and Germaine Schaeffer and her husband, Craig, all of Butler; one granddaughter, Sadie Evelyn Schaeffer; and one grandson, Miles Evan Schaeffer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Cochran Burtner, whom she married on April 21, 1954, and who passed away on Nov. 6, 2010, and her son-in-law, Michael Moore.

BURTNER — There will be no public visitation for Mattie Mae Burtner, who died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020.

Burial will take place in Greenlawn Burial Estates.

Arrangements are under the direction of Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Butler.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Concordia at the Orchard, 1312 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, PA 16001.
