Joan (Morrill) Newell, 87, of Butler passed away on Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, at Newhaven Court at Clearview in Butler.

Joan was born March 25, 1933, in Readfield, Maine, and was the daughter of the late Richard Morrill and Vera (Lang) Corber.

Joan was a registered nurse. She worked for Butler Memorial Hospital for three years, as a private nurse for seven years, and then spent the next 20-plus years at the VA Hospital and other nursing jobs, retiring in 1995.

She was Episcopalian.

Joan is survived by two sons: Todd Newell of California, Md., and Timothy Newell of Wooster, Mass.; two grandchildren: Heather (Chad) Lyman of Florida and T.J.; and three great-grandchildren: Jordan, Renee and Dylan.

In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband, Carmon Benford Newell, whom she married on Aug. 7, 1954, and who passed away on Aug. 16, 2010, and her sister, Patricia Morrill of Allentown.

NEWELL — A private interment for Joan (Morrill) Newell, who died Friday, Dec. 11, 2020, will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.

Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, is assisting the family with arrangements.
