SV grad Smith rejoins Tampa Bay
TAMPA, Fla. — After being released by the Tampa Bay Rays in late October, Seneca Valley graduate and former Butler BlueSox standout Kevan Smith has rejoined the organization.
Smith, 32, a catcher, agreed to a minor league deal with the American League champion Rays Monday. He hit .258 in 17 games last season with a home run and eight RBI.
Smith has a lifetime batting average of .272 with 13 home runs in 685 major league at-bats.
