Donation box stolen from Zelie park
Police are searching for an individual who stole a charitable donation box from the Zelienople Community Park early Tuesday morning.
According to Zelienople Police Department Chief Jim Miller, the box went missing some time after nightfall Monday, and police estimate the supposed thief acted just after midnight Tuesday.
“We’re pretty sure it happened around 12:30 (a.m.),” he said. “There were witnesses who heard a loud banging near the park around 12:30 at night.”
Zelienople police do not currently have an image of any suspects, but are reviewing surveillance footage from the park during that time. Miller said the darkness could pose difficulties, however, in positively identifying any suspects.
Anyone with information relevant to the investigation is asked to contact the Zelienople Police Department at 724-452-3003.
