Suspect arrested, details few in ICU nurse case
UPDATE: The shooter's name has been released.The mother of Caitlyn Kaufman has confirmed that Nashville Metropolitan Police have made an arrest in the shooting of the young ICU nurse from Butler County.A distraught Diane Kaufman of Chicora said she was contacted Friday morning by Nashville Metro detective Chris Dickerson, who has been searching for a suspect since Caitlyn Kaufman was shot in her Mazda SUV on the evening of Dec. 3 while on her way to work at St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.She was a Chicora native and 2012 Butler High School graduate, where she was an accomplished member of the diving team.“I'm very sad,” Diane Kaufman said. “My daughter is gone and I'm relieved in a sense, but sad.”She said as of Friday, one person was arrested.Dickerson did not offer the grieving parents details in his brief call Friday morning.“He didn't go into specifics,” Kaufman said. “He just wanted to let me know that they apprehended someone.”A
gofundme.com account to raise funds for the Kaufman's expenses since their daughter's death has raised almost $38,000.The reward for information leading to the arrest of the shooter, which is comprised mostly of funds raised by a group of Nashville business owners, was at $65,000 on Friday morning, according to Nashville police.
