Man arrested in alleged steel-toed boot attack

A Butler man is accused of attacking an ex-girlfriend with steel-toed boots, leaving her with serious injuries, during an alleged assault Friday at her home in Summit Township.

The defendant, Kristoffer M. Ion, 29, later threw a rock at the woman's car when she tried to get away with her young daughter, state police said. The rock shattered the rear windshield, causing cuts to the girl from the broken glass.

Troopers arrested Ion, but not before they said they had to use force to get him into handcuffs.

District Judge Bill O'Donnell arraigned the defendant on felony charges of aggravated assault with a dead weapon and child endangerment and misdemeanor charges of simple assault, resisting arrest and criminal mischief.

He also is charged with harassment, a summary. He is being held in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 bond.
