The unofficial results for Butler County as of Tuesday night for the state senate races in the 21st, 41st and 47th districts.

Election results are unofficial and do not include all mail-in ballots. The results were gathered as of midnight Tuesday in contested races and are incomplete. Many of the 31,000 mail-in ballots received are still being counted.

Incumbent state Sen. Scott Hutchinson, R-21st, appeared victorious in his reelection campaign according to incomplete returns as of 11 p.m. Tuesday.Hutchinson, who has served in that seat since 2012, had received nearly 54,000 votes across the five-county district, while his Democratic challenger, Shelbie Stromyer of Oil City, tallied almost 14,000 votes. Current results are unofficial and do not include all mail-in ballots.In Butler County, the Tuesday night margin was even wider, with Hutchinson receiving more than 20,000 votes and Stromyer tallying about 5,300.Hutchinson and Stromyer campaigned on seemingly completely separate issues, with Hutchinson focusing on economic issues facing 21st District constituents, while Stromyer zeroed in on a mixture of environmental and educational issues.

Republican state Sen. Joe Pittman defeated Democratic challenger Anthony Deloreto to represent the 41st District for a full four-year term, according to unofficial results from Tuesday's general election that do not include a count of mail-in ballots.Deloreto, a Democrat from Indiana County, is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and an owner of Spaghetti Benders restaurant in Indiana. He could not be reached for comment Tuesday night.State Senate District 41 extends into four counties, including all, most or part of Armstrong, Butler, Indiana and Westmoreland counties.Pittman defeated Deloreto 17,018-3,054 in Butler County, 24,083-4,155 in Armstrong County, 24,148-5,639 in Indiana County and 5,467-1,568 in Westmoreland County.

Incomplete results as of midnight Tuesday indicate incumbent state Sen. Elder Vogel Jr., R-47, retained his seat.At least, in Butler County.Vogel was running against Democrat Stephen Krizan III, of Monaca.With 6,291 votes cast from six of seven municipalities in District 47, Vogel led by almost 3,800 votes in Butler County as of 11:45 p.m. Tuesday and the race may fall in his favor over the next few days.
