Deer runs into, injures woman at airport event

PENN TWP — A woman got run over by a deer Saturday evening at the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport in Penn Township, authorities said.

The woman, believed to be in her 50s, was reportedly knocked to the ground and rendered unconscious about 7:40 p.m. near hangar C-1 as she was leaving the campaign rally held by President Donald Trump.

She had regained consciousness by the time emergency crews arrived, authorities said. A LifeFlight medical helicopter, which is based at the airport, flew her to an unknown Pittsburgh hospital.

No other information was immediately available. The incident was apparently the second one Saturday night involving a deer in the same general area.

Penn Township police said a deer hit another person on Three Degree Road. An officer reported he saw the animal running through a crowd of people, hitting the unidentified person.

That person immediately got up and walked away. The deer also ran away. Police did not file a report.

Saturday was Halloween and there was a full moon.
