Applications for heating help open

Low-income residents can apply starting Monday for help with their winter heating bills.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program provides assistance to both renters and homeowners who meet eligibility requirements.

LIHEAP is accepting applications through April 9.

Teresa Miller, state Department of Human Services secretary, said many people will be spending more time in their homes this winter due to the pandemic, which could result in a higher heating bill.

The minimum cash benefit is $200 and the maximum is $1,000.

Applications for LIHEAP benefits are available at compass.state.pa.us.
