State Department of Labor & Industry officials announced reports of fraudsters posing as department employees in phone calls to residents.

L&I Secretary Jerry Oleksiak said the department would never call residents and ask for personal or private information.

He said a small number of residents reported they received calls and messages from scammers asking for personal information, including their Social Security numbers, to correct unemployment compensation issues.

Oleksiak said any messages received over social media by “L&I” also should be ignored.
