Along with the number of cases, local hospitalizations have trended upward, but remain in single digits, according to a Wednesday report from Butler Health System.
Butler Memorial Hospital has six inpatients, an addition of one since Monday's report. Three of the inpatients have confirmed cases of the virus, with the remaining three still awaiting test results. One of the six patients is being treated in the intensive care unit.
Over the past few days, hospital officials have been urging the community to remain vigilant in their social distancing, mask-wearing and proper hygiene practices.
After one health alert for an unidentified person from the Intermediate High School testing positive, Butler Area School District issued a second health alert later Tuesday for an unidentified person from the McQuistion Elementary School.
“The individual has not been at school since last week,” said Butler Superintendent Brian White in the alert. “It was determined that they did not have any close contacts at school.”
