Those voting by mail-in ballot urged to act soon
Pennsylvania Secretary of State Kathy Bookvar is urging voters who plan to vote by mail to complete and return their ballots over the weekend.
“This weekend is the perfect time to fill out and return your mail ballot well ahead of the deadline,” Bookvar said in a news release. “I want every Pennsylvanian to feel confident that their vote will be counted, and their voice will be heard.”
She also reminded mail voters that they must enclose their ballots in the white inner secrecy envelope and insert that envelope in the outer pre-printed return envelope and seal it.
Voters must sign and complete their declaration on the outer envelope as well, Bookvar said.
Both envelopes must be used regardless of whether ballots are mailed or dropped off at the elections bureau office in the Butler County Government Center at the intersection of West Diamond and South Jackson streets.
Ballots must be returned by the deadline of 8 p.m. on Nov. 3.
Bookvar said those planning to vote by mail should send their ballots in immediately to ensure timely arrival at the elections bureau.
While some counties have added drop boxes, satellite offices or extended elections bureau hours when ballots can be dropped off, none of these features are available in Butler County.
