Teen allegedly admitted selling pot
A teenager is facing felony drug possession and other charges stemming from a July traffic stop in Summit Township, where state police said they found him with about one-half pound of marijuana and several hundred dollars in currency.
Michael J. Garth, 19, of Summit Township allegedly acknowledged selling marijuana, according to court documents.
He was arraigned Monday on charges of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. He is free on $30,000 unsecured bail.
Police said they stopped the defendant around 2:05 a.m. July 25 after they saw his car travel over the white fog line on Herman Road. A trooper reported smelling marijuana coming from the car, and he searched the vehicle.
Inside a backpack, documents said, was an open vacuum-sealed bag containing about eight ounces of suspected marijuana and a wallet with $800.
“Garth admitted to selling marijuana,” documents said.
A consent search of his home and another property, police said, turned up 42 THC cartridges and an additional $1,223 in currency. Police also accused him of having two digital scales.
Garth's preliminary hearing is scheduled Nov. 24. His attorney, Michael Zunder, declined to comment about the case Tuesday.
