WORTH TWP — For people who love to sail, October is the end of the line in Pennsylvania.

Last weekend, privately-owned boats were being pulled from Lake Arthur and stored for the winter. The Moraine Sailing Club will do the same Saturday with its 48 boats, ranging in length from 8 to 19 feet.

This annual tradition is done to comply with the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, which sets Oct. 31 as the end of the sailing season.

“Another sailing season is over. It's a sad, sad thing,” said Bill Paviol, commodore of MSC. “I'm taking my 25-foot boat out on the water one last time on Friday.”

Paviol is in the process of recruiting club members to show up at Davis Hollow Marina at Moraine State Park Saturday to help with closing another season.
