Audubon Society of W.Pa. gets grants of almost $97K
The Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania has been awarded two grants totalling nearly $97,000 to improve water quality and habitat in Buffalo Creek, a high-quality watershed and important bird area in Butler, Allegheny and Armstrong counties.
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection awarded ASWP $65,405 to support both a watershed implementation plan and high-impact best management practices for Buffalo Creek. The board of directors of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation awarded ASWP $31,857 to support the Louisiana Waterthrush community conservation in Buffalo Creek.
ASWP has over 75 years of conservation history in the watershed, including protecting over 500 acres and launching the Buffalo Creek Watershed Coalition in 2020. The two grants bring the total funding secured for the watershed over the past three years to over $1.5 million.
