Baseball pitching legend Edward Charles "Whitey" Ford, who set numerous World Series records with the New York Yankees, died Thursday at age 91. He suffered from Alzheimer's Disease for several years.

Ford was signed by the New York Yankees in 1947 and spent his first year of professional baseball in Butler, pitching for the Butler Yankees of the Class C Middle Atlantic League that year at age 18. He was 13-4 with a 3.84 earned run average that season. The Butler Yankees played their home games at Pullman Park.

Among Ford's Wold Series records are most starts (22) by a pitcher, 10 wins and 94 strikeouts.
