The limitations on gatherings in Pennsylvania have changed once again. On Tuesday, Gov. Tom Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine amended their limits for both indoor and outdoor gatherings to take venue occupancy into account. Starting Friday, Oct 9, instead of a flat 25-person limit at indoor events and 250 at outdoor events, gathering limitations will be a percentage of the venue’s maximum occupancy.

For indoor events, 20% of maximum occupancy will be allowed for spaces that hold 0 to 2,000 people; 15% of maximum occupancy will be allowed for spaces that hold 2,001 to 10,000 people; and 10% of maximum occupancy will be allowed for spaces that hold over 10,000 people, up to 3,750 people,

For outdoor events, 25% of maximum occupancy will be allowed for spaces that hold 0 to 2,000 people; 20% of maximum occupancy will be allowed for spaces that hold 2,001 to 10,000 people; and 15% of maximum occupancy will be allowed for spaces that hold over 10,000 people, up to 7,500 people,

“We will closely monitor cases and outbreaks, and if our case investigation and contact-tracing efforts determine that events or gatherings are the source of an outbreak, we can and will dial back these new limits,” Levine said. “Public health and safety are our first concern and will always remain as such.”
