Cause of Butler man's death a mystery
A 39-year-old Butler man who died following a minor vehicle crash in Forest County did not suffer any injuries from the accident and he appeared to be healthy, an autopsy revealed.
According to an earlier Butler Eagle report, investigators said Lawrence E. Treadway Jr. of Connoquenessing Township was driving south on Route 62 near the Tionesta State Fish Hatchery when his 1999 Ford-150 pickup went off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole on Sept. 27.
Treadway died en route to a hospital, but an autopsy revealed he did not die from the accident and investigators are at a loss for what happened.
The cause and manner of death of Treadway are still unknown following the completion of the autopsy, according to the Forest County Coroner's office. The autopsy was conducted Thursday by Dr. Eric Vey, Erie County's forensic pathologist.
While the autopsy didn't reveal why Treadway died, it did cancel out several possibilities.
According to the autopsy, Treadway was a healthy man and there was no anatomical reason for his death. He sustained no injuries from the accident and he had no diseases. The impact of the wreck was minor and he didn't suffer from any internal injuries. Additionally, there is no medical reason that caused him to lose control of his vehicle on Sept. 27.
Now, his blood will be submitted for a toxicology report to see if the contents of his blood can explain Treadway's death. That report will take at least five weeks, according to Forest County.
Forest County Chief Deputy Coroner Cody Magill was called to the Forest County Visitor Center on Elm Street in Tionesta, where he pronounced Treadway dead around 7:40 a.m. in the ambulance.
According to police investigators, Treadway died shortly after the wreck.
Authorities said they found no evidence of alcohol or drugs at the scene.
Investigators spoke to family members, who did not know why Treadway was in Forest County.
