Gravel claims WoO Sprint race

BUFFALO TWP — When opportunity knocked, David Gravel exploded through the door.

Gravel started from the sixth spot and won the World of Outlaws Commonwealth Clash Sprint feature Saturday night at Lernerville Speedway. He took the lead when race leader Sheldon Haudenschild blew a tire with two laps remaining.

Haudenschild had led the race since its start.

“Sheldon was the class of the field,” Gravel admitted after the race. “But a little bit of racing luck got us the win tonight.”

Gravel's win was his second of the week, making him $65,000 richer.

James McFadden finished second and Daryn Pittman third.

Local drivers A.J. Flick and Sye Lynch qualified for the 35-lap feature through the B-Main. Dan Shetler was the Lernerville points provisional starter in the feature.

Justin Clark won the Allegheny Sprint Tour 305 Racesaver Sprint 20-lap feature.

There were 72 cars in the pits.

Fab 4 racing returns to Lernerville Friday night.
