More drug charges leveled at woman after traffic stop

Deianera McEathron

A Lyndora woman is accused of narcotics trafficking following a weekend traffic stop in Butler, city police said.

Deianera E. McEathron, 25, of Lyndora is in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bond. She is facing felony drug and other charges.

A couple of traffic violations on Hansen Avenue in Butler, police said, led Patrolman Myles Bizub to pull over McEathron shortly after 12:30 a.m. Sunday on Main Street in Lyndora.

Inside her car, police said, the officer noticed what looked like a stamp bag and other suspected drug contraband.

Police subsequently searched the vehicle and found about 500 new and unused stamp bags, according to charging documents, which are commonly used to package narcotics.

Among the additional items allegedly found during the vehicle search were prescription medication, empty stamp bags, new syringes, metal spoons, Q-tips and tourniquets.

Police also seized a small notebook that contained a so-called “owe sheet.” An owe sheet is a common form of recording drug transactions.

Officers described finding a “large sum of cash” in both McEathron's wallet and purse, police said. In all, the currency totaled $3,260.

Before police searched the defendant, documents said, she reached into her bra and pulled out at least 60 stamp bags of suspected heroin. She also had assorted prescription medication.

The items found in the traffic stop were “consistent with the distribution of illegal narcotics,” Bizub said in his affidavit.

McEathron was later arraigned on a felony charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, four misdemeanor charges of possession of a controlled substance, and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Additionally, she is charged with four traffic violations, including driving with a suspended license-DUI related. She is in the Butler County Prison on $50,000 bond.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 28. Online court records did not list an attorney for her.

McEathron is already facing trial in connection with an unrelated arrest following a suspected drugged driving crash July 13 in Butler.

City police said in that case they found her with more than 200 stamp bags of suspected heroin, prescription pills and other contraband while investigating a three-vehicle wreck at Hansen Avenue and Pillow Street.

She is charged with two felony counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance. She also is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.
