Jack E. Uber

Jack E. Uber, 88, a longtime resident of North Ridgeville, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020, at Avon Cleveland Clinic.

He was born Aug. 3, 1932, in Randolph, N.Y.

Jack grew up in Butler, where he graduated from Butler High School in 1950.

Jack joined the military and served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Navy for a total of 21 years.

Following his retirement from the military, he worked as an insurance adjuster, owning and operating his own business, Ultimate Appraisals in North Ridgeville.

Jack enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling, hunting and boating.

He was a member of American Legion Post 451 in Rocky River, the Cooties, and VFW Post 9871 in North Ridgeville, where he was the chaplain for over 20 years and post commander for seven years. Jack was also the chaplain of VFW District 9 for 20 years, and the Lorain County Council commander for a year.

A lifelong Lutheran, Jack was currently attending Faith Lutheran Church in Avon.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pat Uber (Reyer); four children, Jack Uber II (Janet), Ken Uber (Cheryl), Tracy Brooks and Tricia Richards (Robert); 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Marilyn, Joan and Carol; and many nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Dorothy (McCaslin) Uber; his brother, Paul Uber; and his son-in-law, Ray.

UBER — The family of Jack E. Uber, who died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2020, will welcome friends to join them from noon until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020, with the funeral service to be held at 2 p.m. at Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road, North Ridgeville, Ohio. Pastor David Woolsey from Faith Lutheran Church will officiate the service.Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.The Honor Guard from VFW Post 9871, will conduct full military honors at both the conclusion of the service at the funeral home Tuesday and at the cemetery.The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to www.vfwnationalhome.org.To leave an online condolence, please visit listonfuneralhome.com.
