'A Beautiful Mind'
Residents are invited to a free art show that will allow not only viewing of the artwork, but also interaction with the artists.
“A Beautiful Mind” art show, featuring the artwork of consumers of mental health services in the county, will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Farmer's Market at 209 S. Chestnut St. in Butler.
Paintings, drawings, abstract art, origami and other works will be available for viewing.
Tara Hamilton of the county Community Support Program said pop-up art shows are being held throughout the county.
“The main purpose is to reduce the stigma on mental health,” Hamilton said.
The Butler Community Support Program is a collaboration including consumers of mental health services, family members and professionals in the human services community who use their combined strengths to advocate for high-quality services and promote positive outcomes for individuals and families impacted by mental health issues. The program also aims to raise awareness and provide education to the public.
