Michael Bagdes-Canning of Cherry Valley has announced that he is running as a Green Party candidate to challenge Republican state Rep. R. Lee James to represent the 64th District.
A retired school teacher and an organizer with Marcellus Outreach Butler, Bagdes-Canning supports sustainable energy and a green economy, a $15 minimum wage, banning gifts to legislators, holding corporations accountable for pollution, expanding Medicare, court and prison reforms, education funding reform and universal preschool.
The 64th District serves Venango County and part of Butler County, including Allegheny, Concord, Parker, Venango and Washington townships and Bruin, Cherry Valley and Eau Claire.
