Cranberry Lions Club honors winners

Cranberry Township Area Lions Club began a new club year Aug. 25 with a special ceremony.

Held outside in the Lions Shelter in Cranberry Township, local winners of the Lions Clubs International District 14N Peace Poster contest were recognized during the event.

Mike St. Clair, a former King Lion who now serves as club chairman for the contest, emceed the ceremony. Contestants recognized that night included:

Alanna McEnaney, a sixth-grader at Blessed Francis Seelos Academy, who won first place at the district level and fourth place in the state.

Kia Stephens, a sixth-grader at Haine Middle School, who won second place at the district level.

Honorees received a cash prize and club memorabilia.

The Peace Poster Contest was created in 1988 to give students an opportunity to creatively express their feelings about world peace. About 600,000 children from 75 countries participate in the contest annually. The Cranberry Township club sponsors two contests a year.
