Police Reports

4:55 p.m. Saturday — Cars driven by John A. Dreves, 27, of Zelienople, and Jeffrey L. Lawther, 52, of Ellwood City, collided at Route 19 and Route 488 in Portersville. No one was injured, but Dreves’ car had to be towed. Police cited Dreves for a stop sign violation

11:55 p.m. Friday — An unidentified vehicle struck two mailboxes along Route 68 just west of Grandview Avenue in Chicora. The unknown driver did not stop.

7:49 p.m. Friday — An unknown driver in a pickup sideswiped a car on Interstate 79 south in Muddy Creek Township, and did not stop after the crash. Abigail T. Hutzel, 20, of Fairview, who was driving the car, was not injured. Her vehicle had to be towed.

The unidentified hit-and-run vehicle is believed to be a white or silver GMC or Chevrolet pickup, according to a police report, and it would have damage to the front passenger side.

3:49 p.m. Friday — A pickup driven by Jackson R. Patton, 22, of Hermitage, Mercer County, struck a crash cushion in a work zone on the right side of Route 422 east of Route 68 in Summit Township. The truck continued into a zone guard barrier.

The truck sustained substantial damage to the front right side. Patton was not injured. Police cited him for driving too fast for conditions.

9:30 p.m. Thursday — Autumn D. Perry, 23, of Emlenton, lost control of her sport utility vehicle on rain-soaked Mahood Road in Clay Township and hit a ditch on the south berm. Neither Perry nor her passenger were injured. A passing motorist pulled the vehicle out of the ditch. Police cited Perry for driving too fast for conditions.

12:47 p.m. Thursday — Joseph J. Hockenberry, 54, of Renfrew, was hurt when an SUV hit him as he was working as a flagger for a tree service company in a construction zone on Route 108 near Stoughton Road.

Hockenberry was taken by Slippery Rock EMS to Grove City Medical Center for medical evaluation of unknown injuries, according to a police report.

Police said the crash happened when Robert J. Yokim, 82, of Slippery Rock, crested a hill while traveling east on Route 108 in a Ford Escape and struck Hockenberry, who was on the south side of the road directing traffic. Yokim was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

5:25 p.m. Aug. 24 — No injuries were reported when a truck backing up in the northbound lane of Eagle Mill Road near Rolling Valley Lane in Connoquenessing Township struck an SUV. Police noted that the SUV driver, Melissa A. MacMillan, 38, of Butler, used her horn in an attempt to signal the other driver, Douglas J. Lindey, 65, of Butler.

Police cited Lindey for improperly backing a vehicle.
