City teen hospitalized after early morning shooting

Butler police are investigating an early morning shooting on the 500 block of West Cunningham Street that left a teenager hospitalized at a Pittsburgh hospital.

Police said Dalton Anthony, 18, of Butler was shot twice in the leg. The shooting was reported about 12:25 a.m. at an apartment building.

Anthony was eventually flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital. The extent of his injuries were unknown but police said they believe he is in stable condition.

Police said in responding to the call they found the victim and tended to his injuries until a medical crew arrived.

Police Chief Bob O'Neill in a news release said that officers are still investigating the shooting and have secured surveillance videos, search warrants and various witness statements. It is not known if there are any suspects.

While the investigation is continuing, O'Neill said police believe there is no further danger to residents. No other information was provided.
